God has answered a big prayer for our church – we have a new place to rent on Sunday mornings. We have prayed for 4 months for this prayer to be answered, and there were times where it seemed like it was taking too long. It is not easy to find a place on Sunday mornings in our part of town, and we did not want to give up our mission by leaving this area, changing our meeting time, or paying too much for a space. We held on to the Vision of our church and waited for God to act – and He did.
About two months ago there was a bit of worry and concern among some of the people in our church. They knew God would answer the prayer, but they were concerned. (Or maybe they were just concerned that I wasn’t looking hard enough? Don’t worry, I was!) I stood up and said in front of our entire church, “I know it is hard to not know what will happen, but God is with us. Wait and see. God will do great things among us! (Joshua 3:5) God will answer this prayer. Remember these days, and pass this story on to future generations.” At that time, I didn’t have an answer, and I wasn’t going to force us into a bad rental situation. What I knew is that we could count on Jesus.
Remember God’s history with you – He is faithful. When we started Covenant Grove 5 years ago we didn’t know where we were going to meet – and I was very concerned! I finally asked for prayer, and it was answered – and we met at Enochs High School. Over the years we have had many people lose their jobs – and some have chosen to trust God as they search, not giving into despair. They found jobs, and could tell the world about His faithfulness. It was because I remembered God’s history with me that I could stand up in front of our church and boldly say – even though we had not found a place – “God WILL answer this prayer!” We can always count on Jesus.
The Lord is not just trying to give us a new space to rent, He is trying to grow our trust in His unfailing love. What are you praying about right now? You can count on Jesus. He is always with you. He never fails.
