This is one of those chapters in the Bible there is just so much to learn from, and talk about – trust, loyalty, wisdom, being a good neighbor, helping people, wealth, and more. But I think it all comes down to verses 5 and 6 – trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. Those verses can be “life verses” – words to remember every single day and many times during a day.
To trust God with all I am means I trust Him more than myself, more than the opinions of the latest book or doctor, more than what is trendy or trending, more than anything. I look to His Word as my source of ultimate meaning and truth. I focus my life through prayer.
To seek His will in all I do is about action. Trust is active; faith is living. I have a choice – do I want to walk alone (asking God to trail behind me), or do I want to follow Him and His path for my life? I have to seek His will in all I do – meaning I talk to Him, ask Him, and follow Him. He doesn’t always tell me everything I should do – He gives me a lot of freedom. But I think it is important to ask Him – so that my life is securely in His hands.
These are incredible life verses, and a totally different way to live.
