Our God is just. So often we forget about God’s justice and holiness. God is loving, and His love does not mean that He lets everything go – He is a God of justice, and He does see, and He will punish. The cry of this psalm is “How long?” – knowing that life is NOT fair, but that God is – so there is tension. The author does not say there is no God, he does not say God is weak or does not care. He cries out to God and asks for God to move and to act. That is the best way to move through the longing for justice that we should have. God is just, He does care – and we pray for Him to act quickly to bring His justice to our world.
