Verse 4 really stands out to me – why keep secret anything in a book named “Revelation”?
It serves as another reminder that while God is revealing the future, there is more to His plan that we are ready to hear. He tells us part of His plan to give comfort to those who are suffering, and for us to follow the words of Christ, who told us to be prepared for His coming. But He does not tell us all of His plan – there is more, and that requires faith.
God’s Word is for the entire world (v.11) – and my goal is to follow Him – because the truth that He taught us has changed my life, given me power, and set me free. It has given me a new family, strengthened the relationships in my birth family, and given me peace inside. So I can trust Him with the parts that He doesn’t tell me – because of the power of the words He has given me. I know HIM, His character – and knowing that only makes me hopeful for the parts He hasn’t yet revealed.
Do you have a hard time not knowing parts of God’s plan?
