Part of Something Bigger…
Covenant Grove is a church plant from Modesto Covenant Church, and a part of the Evangelical Covenant Church – a family of over 800 churches. Our conference in the Covenant is called the Pacific Southwest Conference.
The Covenant is a Bible-centered, Spirit-led, devotional denomination that is deeply committed to starting new churches – planting on average a new church every 2 weeks!
With it’s roots in the Protestant Reformation, the Evangelical Covenant Church is a denomination that holds to the affirmations of historical Christianity regarding the Bible as the Word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine and conduct.
What makes the Covenant unique from other denominations is the fact that while it strongly affirms the clear teaching of the Bible, it allows believers the personal freedom to have varying interpretations on theological issues that are not clearly presented in Scripture. If Billy Graham, Martin Luther, John Calvin, and the Pope could all worship God in one church – that would be the Covenant! The Covenant affirms as central to its life and thought six evangelical emphases:
• The centrality of the Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16)
• The necessity of the new birth (John 3:3, 14:6)
• A commitment to the mission of the whole church (Matt 28:18-20)
• The Church is a fellowship of believers (1 Corinthians 12:12-13)
• A conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:25)
• The reality of freedom in Christ (John 8:31-32; Galatians 5:1)
We are committed to Christ and each other, and to reaching the lost – with missions and World Relief around the world. The Covenant also has a hospital, retirement communities, and a university and seminary. For more on the Covenant, check out the video below, or visit the Covenant Website.
