This week I got to print up our charter document – the document that our charter members will get to sign this Sunday, marking the official beginning of our church. What an incredible story God has been growing in us – and the lives that have been changed through God and our church’s ministry!
I served once in a church were the charter membership was hung up on the wall. I remember looking at that charter membership – it was over 40 years old – and realized that many of those church members were no longer even alive. But then I realized that they were alive – worshipping the Lord at this very moment. And there I was – serving as a pastor in the church they helped to start. It was a humbling moment! But it helped me realize that a charter membership is not the end – but the beginning of the church.
God has done incredible things in the life of Covenant Grove Church – but this is just the beginning. My prayer is that in 40 years there will be people (and pastors) who are looking at our charter document, and carrying on the legacy we have started with Christ. And even if I am dead and praising the Father of Lights, they will be alive on earth and praising Him too – passing on the legacy that has been passed to us.
What an incredible day this Sunday is. Thank you for all of your prayers, all of your support, and all you have done. To those who attend with us, keep strong in Christ. To those who pray for us faithfully – thank you SO much, your prayers truly make a difference. Here we go Covenant Grove!!!
