We are looking to hire someone to work in our Kids Ministry!! This is big news for our church! Below is a copy of a letter that is going out this week. Be in prayer for us!!
Dear Church Family,
What an incredible year of ministry it has already been! It is April, and God has already done so much in our church! People are growing, our church is growing, new Life Groups are starting, we have taught through Proverbs, and zombies, and now on Theology 101. Our College/Career ministry is growing, and our Youth Ministry has really stepped up, with a Middle School trip to Hume Lake, and a High School mission trip to San Diego planned for June. As ministry elevates, it blesses our entire church – lives are changed, and God is honored.
At Covenant Grove, we put a priority on the next generation, which means the ministries in our church that we fund and plan first for are Kids, Youth, and College/Career. We believe that as we do this, it blesses the entire church – all ages. Our Kids Ministry is being led by an incredible group of leaders, and filled with many wonderful teachers and helpers. What a blessing this ministry is to so many in our church! Now as a church we have the chance to continue to bless our kids by hiring a staff position for Kids Ministry.
This is a part time position (10 hours per week), and we knew we wanted to hire from within, and from among those who were already putting in hours on the leadership level. After asking all four of the capable women who were serving in Kids Ministry leadership, Hannah Nelson was the one who was able to put in more time and serve on a staff level. Hannah started serving in our nursery (the Nest) over a year ago, and has transformed that ministry, with great organization, communication, leader recruiting and rotations, music, and goal based curriculum. Our hope is that she will take these gifts and experience and continue to grow and bless our Kids Ministry with our gifted and capable Kids Ministry team.
Because Hannah is my wife, she will not initially be reporting directly to me. She would connect with Nicole Gingerich, who is the Kids Ministry liaison on the Leadership Council. Hannah will be a part of our church staff and staff meetings, which will be great for us to hear weekly updates from our Kids Ministry. Hannah will also be initially serving as our “interim” – meaning that this will be limited in length of time to one year. At the end of the year we can decide in what direction to go with the position. This is a very exciting hire and position for our church!
It is important that we support and pray for all of our staff members, who give so much to our church family as we all serve together. As we look to hire a new staff position, I want to ask for our entire church to be in PRAYER. Our goal is to follow God in everything we do. We see this hire as a huge blessing to our kids, a chance to add even more strength to our growing Kids Ministry.
We will also be having a Question and Answer session after church on May 5. It will be in the Nest. It is a Potluck Sunday, so grab your food and head over to the Nest. This will be a chance to hear from Hannah, and ask her questions. You can also ask questions of Scott and Nicole. We are looking forward to meeting, and to seeing how God is growing our church more and more!
In Christ,
Scott Nelson
As our children’s ministry has grown in both size and depth, the need for a staff person to devote time and energy into this important ministry has become very evident. Pastor Scott and the Leadership Council looked carefully at the leaders who are currently serving in the Kids Ministry, and it was clear that Hannah Nelson was the best fit for this position.
Hannah has the passion, time, and energy needed to pour into this vital ministry. Not only that, she comes to us with a great amount of experience, including directing a children’s ministry in a church in Orange (River47 Covenant Church), fulfilling the role of team leader of Covenant Grove’s nursery (the Nest), as well as countless hours volunteering in her children’s classrooms. I believe Hannah will do an excellent job in this position, especially after observing what she has already accomplished in the nursery.
If you have any other questions or concerns, I hope that you can join us after the service on May 5th. This will be a time when you can ask questions of me, Hannah, or Pastor Scott. You can also speak with me sooner if you would like. I so appreciate Covenant Grove’s willingness to put children and this ministry in a place of value, and I am very excited to see this ministry grow in new ways!
