Exciting Kids Ministry News
What a year it has been. Although we are still in a time with much uncertainty, we can be certain of this: God loves us, is for us, and is always at work (John 5:17). Jesus has been working in big ways in our Kids Ministry. Throughout the pandemic, our Kids Ministry has gone above and beyond to bless kids and families. They made care packages with activities. They made weekly videos with lessons and ways for parents to engage. They planned extra events. As we began to meet again, they started up Sunday Morning Kids Ministry again, teaching the Bible and godly habits for life. What an incredible team!!
The Holy Spirit has raised up an incredible team to lead this ministry. We have had incredible teachers and helpers do so much to pass on faith to the next generation. Two of those teachers are Jacob and Megan Alvarez. They have brought an incredible enthusiasm to their classroom, pouring out their hearts as they teach God’s word. The kids really respond to them! As the year has gone on, they have felt a tug on their hearts to step up even more. Also in this last year, God has moved Hannah’s heart to return into special education, and she has taken a job as a paraprofessional working with small children. Hannah has continued serving as our Kids Pastor, though with less hours, even as Jacob and Megan have stepped up and done more. Of course Terese Hair, our Kids Ministry Assistant, has been incredible—as well as the entire Kids Ministry team.
After much prayer and many talks, and after interviews with the church staff and approval by the Leadership Council, Jacob and Megan Alvarez have accepted a call to serve as our Kids Ministers. Their official start date is August 1. We want to welcome them and pray for them! They have a lot of enthusiasm and ideas for our Kids Ministry, and they have a huge heart for Jesus and for our kids. They are young, but they have a passion for Jesus. Please pray for them, support them, and help them in any way you can. Hannah will continue to serve in Kids Ministry but will wrap up her time on pastoral staff.
The Lord is our shepherd, and He is leading us forward. We follow Him and trust in His leading—not just for church staffing but in every area of our lives. It is such an adventure following in Jesus! Thank you for being part of this journey together, and thank you for your prayers as we live out the mission of Jesus together.
