We just finished a GREAT serving event – West Side Serve. We had almost 70 different people from Covenant Grove serve over 2 days, and we served over 30 people the first day and 50-60 the second day. We also had a lot of people donate food, too.
I loved how we were able to get a little uncomfortable and serve outside of our neighborhood. I love that a lot of kids were involved and serving. I loved the conversations we were able to have with so many homeless people and people from the neighborhood. God moved in powerful ways to get food donated from generous people in our church, ministries in town, and even stores that made donations (thanks Summar Anaya and Chris Pereira!).
In October we are joining a movement called “Love Our Neighborhoods” – a way to care for the people in our neighborhoods in the name of Jesus. This is a simple way to pray, care, and share with those who live closest to us. On Sunday we will be handing out magnets to everyone, and I want to encourage you to be a part of this great next event at our church!
