There are moments when I am so, so proud of our church – and the things God is doing through us, even though we are less than 5 years old. This week, seeking all that God is doing at God’s Special Kids Camp (GKSC), is one of those proud moments.
I am proud to be a part of a church that has the courage to attempt this, and pull it off. I am proud of our parents who send their kids to VBS and don’t complain that we don’t have our “own”. I am proud of the work that is going into making GSKC a reality. I am so proud of those who are helping out – way outside of their comfort zones.
One of our buddies is learning some sign language so he can communicate with his special needs buddy. A girl who doesn’t like hugs got paired with a “hugger” – and she is ok with that. People are being pushed to grow and love in new ways – and their faith is growing because of it.
So keep praying for GSKC this week – and get ready to learn more about God’s love for those with special needs, and for those we often don’t see in our society – they are Special in His Sight – that is the title of a 2 week sermon series starting this Sunday. And this Sunday we are having a Pizza Party for GSKC – so invite people to come and eat with us, and hear the stories!
Also – for the next 2 weeks we will be collecting warm weather kids clothes for kids with special needs in the Philippines. Then on June 30 we will take a special offering for the Philippines. All of these are big ways our new church can make a big difference for Jesus. Join us!!!
