When I teach people how to do devotions, I tell them to read until something strikes you – then stop and reflect on it. I only made it one verse today.
Slow to speak, quick to listen, slow to get angry. I am lousy at all three of these. I am too quick to dish out advise, sometimes even interrupting people to give what I think they need, when often what they need most is just to be listened to. Anger has always been something that I have struggled with, even as a child. James is a book that reminds me I have a long way to go in my journey closer to Christ. But I know He is with me, every step of the way, and working on me every day.
