Do I desire God more than anything else? The parables of the hidden treasure and pearl are very simple, but they ask me a very tough question – do I desire Jesus more than anything else? More than my stuff, more than my family, more than my job, more than myself? Is His Kingdom worth more to me than all of these things? Our Lord taught us that the Kingdom is worth more than anything on earth – and everything I have been given – stuff, family, job, my own life – can be used for His glory, and can’t get in the way of His mission for this world and my life. When I put Him first everything else falls into place. And I must be willing to surrender all for Him.
The Kingdom is like a time of separation. This judgment will fully happen in the future – the Kingdom is present and future. The separation starts even now – Jesus’ own hometown did not fully accept Him, and the religious leaders of His time did not endorse Him. Today many ignore Him or push Him to the side – He is the judge, the King, the Lord of all! There will be, and is now happening, a separation. I want to make sure I am with Jesus, my Lord, Friend, King, Savior.
