What are the false teachings that we listen to every day?
Jesus is critiquing His culture. The Pharisees and Sadducees (who now become a bigger part of the story) want to see a sign – but they have ignored all of the signs Jesus has already given – including the 2 feedings that Jesus refers to. The disciples have missed the point as well – haven’t they learned that Jesus can provide bread if needed? Haven’t they learned about leadership, and the truth?
A little bit of yeast works its way through the entire dough – and so it is with false teaching. Jesus is critiquing their interpretations of the law, which had drawn people away from the heart of God. He is critiquing their blindness to the signs, and their desire to see more. They will given the sign of Jonah – the resurrection.
What false teaching is in our culture?
“If it makes you happy and doesn’t hurt anyone, it is not wrong.”
“You have to do what is right for you.”     “That is your truth, that is not my truth.”
There are more, but these teaching have infiltrated everywhere – including the church – and it paralyzes our ability to see the truth, and how God works. May we filter everything through the truth of God’s Word, may we know God’s Word more than our TV shows and social media, and may we live out God’s Word and truth and find the joy we long for, that can only be found in Him.
