In these verses we see the highs and lows of devotion to Christ. A woman anoints His feet in total love. What she does is a beautiful act. There are times when we get it totally right, and our love for Christ shines.
Also in these verses the religious leaders plot to kill Jesus, and Judas plans on betraying Jesus, and Peter claims he is stronger than he really is. There are other times when we totally blow it. At all times Jesus is faithful – He still loves Peter, He calls Judas “friend”, and He does not use His power against the leaders.
The end of Matthew shows some of the darkest hours of history, and some of the darkest parts of the human heart. Jesus understand suffering, and going through dark times. Jesus is also there when the darkness of our hearts is revealed. Because of His love, I can have the courage to let His light shine in the dark parts of my heart – and change me. He will love me no matter what, so I have the safety to change in His love.
