I love the beginning of this chapter, and the wisdom it gives about money. First, don’t desire all the wealth of the rich, even if you have rich friends. Be wise, and a bit guarded! Second, I don’t need to wear myself out trying to get rich – wealth can disappear in a moment, and it is not the true measure of my life (and so why spend the full measure of my time on it?). Third – don’t spend time with the stingy (and don’t be stingy I think is implied, too). I love how this is a guard for me and whom I spend my time with. It is a joy to be around generous people – not that I should want all they have or ask for more than I need – but so that I may grow in generosity as well.
My relationship with God through Jesus should grow me every day to be a greater giver.
