I love David’s honesty in this psalm. He has committed himself to live with integrity, to live the way God has told and instructed and commanded. But David feels as if God is very distant when he writes this psalm. Where is God? David wants God to feel closer. And yet David is committed to live the right way, even if God does not feel close. His commitment to God is not based on His feeling of God – near or far. David has learned to be faithful. He wants God’s presence, but he will be true to God even if God does not feel close. What a lesson to learn.
