– Walking with God gives us security. Does that really line up with real life?
The Bible knows reality. It knows that walking with God gives security. You are on God’s side, following His rules. This means you don’t have to remember which lie you told to which person, because you always tell the truth. This means you can know you are living with integrity and have security. It also means that God protects you.
The Bible also knows that life is hard, and often unfair. The psalms themselves talk about this more than most books of the Bible. Good people don’t always get what they deserve; bad people often get good things. This is the reality of life. And yet this does not change the fact that God is near you and with you and will protect and provide.
The Bible also knows that to truly follow Jesus means there might even be more suffering and hardship. As the world turns more and more to its own selfish ways, to live for God will be less and less accepted. Yet in all of these things we are more than conquerors, more than victorious athletes – we are dearly loved children of God. In the end, there is no greater prize in life.
