Those who have died for Christ have a special place in heaven. This has never meant that Christians are to run to their deaths, but that we must always be willing to stand and die. There are Christians around the world dying right now for Christ.
I have often asked myself if I am willing to die for my faith, to die for the Lord who died for me. When I was in high school that was a driving question for me – until my youth pastor asked me another question: “I know you are willing to die for Christ. Are you willing to live for Him?” That question rocked my world, and changed my thinking – as I realized there were things in my life that needed to die – attitudes, habits, thought patterns. As God helped me to change these things, my faith grew more and more.
In this chapter, there are 6 seals that are broken – and it brings a lot of calamity to the earth. God does not want pain and suffering, but there is a path to justice – that is not enjoyable for those who use their power for injustice. This chapter reminds us that God is in control.
