Worship in the Big Tent
Worship Services: Sunday 9:00 & 11:00
We have a tent that can fit over 100 people for outdoor worship! This allows us to meet safely outdoors while still following the biblical mandate to worship our Savior. Join us each week online or in-person in the Big Tent. We will have heaters, but bring a blanket and a heart ready for worship. Invite others to join you as well for a truly unique worship experience. It is time for a revival!
Under the current guidelines, we will be meeting under the Big Tent (in-person and online)—at 9:00 and 11:00am. Kids Ministry will happen indoors during both services through 1st grade. Over the last few months, we have worshiped inside, online, and outside—in the smoke, rain, heat, and cold. No matter what, we will have worship services because worship is vital to our spiritual health. God is fuel for our souls, and we are called to worship together.
Weekly worship makes a big difference in life. We have heard story after story of people who have come back to church saying, “I really needed this in my life.” God is the fuel for our souls; there is no substitute. Whether you worship online or join us outside, make sure you stay rooted in God and connected in community. God bless you!
Night to Shine
Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older. This year the event will look a little different as it is a drive thru event, but still with all the hype and energy. Night to Shine counts on amazing volunteers like you to make this night come alive. Join us again this year and sign up to volunteer. You can choose to help with hair and make-up, audio/visual, set up, drive thru karaoke and paparazzi , security, medical, and more. As you can see, there is a ton of need…we need you! Go to www.NightToShineModesto.com to register to volunteer. Night to Shine is on Friday, February 12.
Supply Lines of Support
We all need support, and the last year has shown us the absolute importance of “supply lines” of support in our lives. Unfortunately, many of us live without enough support in our lives, and we only reach out for support when we are in crisis. God’s word shows us a better way for our lives.
In this sermon series, beginning January 31, Pastor Scott will teach on key characters from the Bible and highlight lessons for the five areas of support we all need: devotion, inspiration, encouragement, connection, and problem solving. Support was the topic of Pastor Scott’s doctoral dissertation. This is an important area of our lives, and we hope you can make it every Sunday for this sermon series!
Media Fast (Spiritual Feast)
As we get to the second half of our monthlong Media Fast, our prayer is that each of us can reflect on the lessons the Holy Spirit is showing us in our lives. The goal is not to return to where we were before, but grow because we have been part of a “spiritual feast.” This may mean you watch less TV, shows, movies, or games. It may mean you continue the book, study, or deeper relationships you have gotten. You may have learned the importance of sleep and naps—don’t forget that lesson!
If you haven’t been part of the Media Fast so far, jump in with us! The Media Fast covers four key areas: Social Media and Web (unless for work), Shows (tv, sports, movies, YouTube, etc.), Video Games (including on phones), and Music. You can choose to do less than all four areas; do what you need to get the most out of this month. We have already heard amazing stories from how people have grown this month through this challenge. We invite you with us into the Spiritual Feast of a Media Fast.
Pray for Our Missionaries
Covenant Grove supports four missionary families around the world. Philip and Stephanie Voland in Germany (Kiel), Greg and Kristi Fauss in Germany (Berlin), Grant and Miho Bucholtz in Japan, and another family in the Middle East (their names cannot be shared for security reasons). The generous giving and faithful prayers of our church family allows us to participate in global missions—which is obeying the call of Jesus to make disciples “to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). This month, pray especially for our missionaries as they deal with coronavirus in their areas while still faithfully proclaiming the message of Jesus.
