Find Your Peace By Rachel Garcia – Kids Minister

The other day I experienced one of those mornings where it felt like everything was happening all at once, and everyone needed help with something. My son couldn’t find the pants he wanted to wear, my daughter couldn’t decide what to eat for breakfast, I misplaced my work keys and was frantically searching for them on my way out the door. All of these things left me feeling flustered, and to top it all off, I was now late for an appointment.

As I drove toward my destination I was thinking through the morning and feeling frustrated, and forgetting to go to God first with my frustrations. Then, I drove by a sign that said “Find Your Peace”. Wow! That was a wakeup call straight from God.

Why was I getting upset over all these things? God knows me and loves me deeply. I can trust Him with all of my problems and frustrations, no matter how big or small. He is the One who I should turn to first. This literal sign from God sent me back to Him in prayer, knowing that He provides exactly what I need.

When I got home, I went to God’s Word to further seek the peace that He so freely gives. Did you know that the word peace is found in the Bible 350 times? His Word is overflowing with peace. With God, I can experience true peace that only He brings.

Here are just a few words of peace from our Lord. Read these verses and let them dwell in your heart.

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.”  Numbers 6:24-26

The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.”  Psalms 29:11

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” Isaiah 26:3

I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”  John 14:27

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”  Colossians 3:15
