How do you do with getting up in the morning? Do you get up in the morning, or are you an afternoon riser?

I know people (some of them live in my house!) who can pop right out of bed as soon as they wake up. This is NOT me. Despite having multiple alarms, I struggle to wake up fully, drag myself out of bed, and get moving in the morning.

How about when it comes to responding to Christ? Do you say “yes!” immediately and get on the move? Or do you hit the brakes?  Maybe make a U-turn? Or tell God you’re not ready yet?

Everyone is going to take their faith journey at their own pace. I can admire people who can just GO in the morning even though I can’t understand it. And sometimes easing into something might be what’s best for us (not when it comes to getting kids to school on time – this isn’t a perfect metaphor…). One thing that’s important is being able to recognize when our natural tendencies might be getting in the way of God’s work in our lives. Am I too go-go-go-go-go, and I’ve left Jesus behind? Have I repeatedly told God “No” and now I’m living in disobedience? Or maybe the problem is God has an alarm clock going off in my life and I’m missing it!

Wherever we are in our walk with Christ, all of us are called by God to GO. Your alarm clock might be saying, “Go, take a spiritual retreat, and be refilled with the Spirit.” Alternatively, God might be telling you that you’ve pushed snooze too many times and it’s time to take action. Jesus warns us to keep watch in Mark 13:36 – “Don’t let him find you sleeping when he arrives without warning.”

Stay plugged into the Word, never stop praying, and be ready to rise up when God calls!
