Jacob and Megan Alvarez: Kids Ministers
We are so happy to announce that Jacob and Megan Alvarez have been called by God and approved by the Leadership Council to serve as our Kids Ministers. Hannah will still serve in Kids Ministry but no longer on staff, as she is working as a para-professional with special needs kids. The Lord has raised up Jacob and Megan, and they have such a fire for kids to love Jesus, know His word, and have great habits. Please welcome them, support them, and pray for them as they invest in our kids!

The book of Proverbs is all about wisdom—making right choices with God. For our next church devotional, we will be going through this book together. You can grab a devotional booklet with thoughts, follow along and comment on social media, or take a card with days to check off. We try to do everything we can to help people get into God’s word because it makes such a big difference in life. Take the time every day to pray, read, reflect, and respond—all in relationship with Jesus.
There is a special bond that happens when you work and sweat together. That is what we are going to do at our Church Workday! It is on Saturday, August 21 from 8:30-11:30am. We will pull weeds, wash windows, and do work inside and outside our church facilities. This is the house of the Lord, and we get to work on it together—that’s what families do! Along the way, we have fun, dance to the music, and create new memories together. We hope you can make it!
Radiant Covenant Church Plant
Covenant Grove and Modesto Covenant are partnering together to plant a new church in Modesto, led by Zach and Jill Riley, named Radiant Covenant Church. Our church is supporting them through prayer, giving, and sending people. Be praying for Zach and Jill every day, and prayerfully consider if the Lord is asking you to join their Launch Team. Giving to the Building Hope Initiative financially supports their church, too.
Church planting—especially after a pandemic—is an amazing and bold work of God’s Spirit to reach non-churched people and invite them into the way of Jesus that radiates God’s love and power (Psalm 34:5).
The Way of Wisdom
Our world needs God’s wisdom. Our current sermon series is looking at the book of Proverbs and covering great topics like work, money, speech, marriage, and sex. Proverbs were written to help God’s people know how to make good choices and live well with Him. Wisdom is more than knowledge; it is the way of living a good life with the Lord. Our choices matter, and one of the wisest things we can do is learn from the wisdom of God. So join us every week for this great series, and invite others too. You will gain some incredible wisdom for your life!
All Church Meeting
The All Church Meeting is this Sunday, August 8, 2:00pm, in person at church. Even though these meetings cover the business of the church, we still have fun, pray together, and celebrate all the Lord has done. We also talk about the future together. The meeting includes welcoming new members, voting for new Council leaders, and voting on next year’s budget. We ask all members to attend for the votes, and the meeting is open for everyone.
