Worship in the Big Tent
Worship Services: Sunday 9:00 & 11:00
We have a tent that can fit over 100 people for outdoor worship! This allows us to meet safely outdoors while still following the biblical mandate to worship our Savior. Join us each week online or in-person in the Big Tent. We will have heaters, but bring a blanket and a heart ready for worship. Invite others to join you as well for a truly unique worship experience. It is time for a revival!
Under the current guidelines, we will be meeting under the Big Tent (in-person and online)—at 9:00 and 11:00am. Kids Ministry will happen indoors during both services through 1st grade. Over the last few months, we have worshiped inside, online, and outside—in the smoke, rain, heat, and cold. No matter what, we will have worship services because worship is vital to our spiritual health. God is fuel for our souls, and we are called to worship together.
Weekly worship makes a big difference in life. We have heard story after story of people who have come back to church saying, “I really needed this in my life.” God is the fuel for our souls; there is no substitute. Whether you worship online or join us outside, make sure you stay rooted in God and connected in community. God bless you!
Night to Shine
Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older. This year the event will look a little different as it is a drive thru event, but still with all the hype and energy. Night to Shine counts on amazing volunteers like you to make this night come alive. Join us again this year and sign up to volunteer. You can choose to help with hair and make-up, audio/visual, set up, drive thru karaoke and paparazzi , security, medical, and more. As you can see, there is a ton of need…we need you! Go to www.NightToShineModesto.com to register to volunteer. Night to Shine is on Friday, February 12.
Media Fast (Spiritual Feast)
Covenant Grove is doing a Media Fast for the month of January. This is not a biblical requirement but an invitation to reset the amount of media we consume. It is also an invitation to a Spiritual Feast with God. The average amount of media consumption went from 25 to almost 40 hours per week in 2020. God is inviting us to reclaim this time and invest it into our devotional life, connections with loved ones, our health, and rest.
The Media Fast covers four key areas: Social Media and Web (unless for work), Shows (tv, sports, movies, YouTube, etc.), Video Games (including on phones), and Music. You can choose to do less than all four areas; do what you need to get the most out of this month. We have already heard amazing stories from how people have grown this month through this challenge. We invite you with us into the Spiritual Feast of a Media Fast.
Every year, our church family begins with a challenge to make “Ten Test” commitments. This is giving God 10 minutes a day for prayer and devotions, 10% of our income, and 1 day a week for worship, rest, ministry, and family. People choose to make one, two, or all three commitments. These commitments help us start the year right, and they really help us to grow! If you are making one of the Test Test commitments, let us know on your Connect Card or by email.
God’s promises matter; we can build our lives on them. There is only one time the Bible invites us to test God—in giving (Malachi 3:10). God invites us to give the “whole tithe.” Many Christians give nothing to God’s work, and the average giving by church attenders is 2%. Jesus never required 10%, in fact, He calls His followers to give sacrificially (to the point where it hurts a bit, see Luke 9:23; Acts 2:42-47). Jesus taught more on money than any other subject because money so easily steals our trust in God. When we trust God with our finances, our hearts are unlocked, and new blessings flow into and out of our lives. This is God’s promise, and it applies to our devotional lives and day of worship as well. Our loving Father doesn’t shame us but invites us into life that is truly life—life overflowing.
