Please, God, rescue me! Come quickly, Lord, and help me. May those who try to kill me be humiliated and put to shame. May those who take delight in my trouble be turned back in disgrace. Let them be horrified by their shame, for they said, “Aha! We’ve got him now!” But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, “God is great!” But as for me, I am poor and needy; please hurry to my aid, O God. You are my helper and my savior; O Lord, do not delay.
Psalms 70:1-5 NLT
Don’t miss the heading of the psalm. David was asking God to remember him. David was bold enough to ask God for help—repeatedly. It seems like David was always crying out for help! That isn’t foolishness or weakness; it is wisdom because God is the source of real strength. Many people believe they shouldn’t ask the Lord for help with problems they can handle. But God is not limited like we are; He has unlimited wisdom and power to offer. David was wise enough to ask for help. God hears every prayer, and God did deliver David, who died peacefully at an old age. What are some things you can ask God’s help for today?
Those who seek the Lord are filled with joy. God is pursuing you, inviting you to go deeper in faith and closer to Him. How are you seeking to get closer to Him?
