The Lord is a Rescuer. The feeling of being rescued—the overwhelming gratitude—stays with a person for their whole life. This psalm is a song of praise to God. David realized that the Lord had rescued him. David praised the Lord and called others to praise God, his Deliverer. David had times of prosperity when he thought nothing bad could happen to him. He also had times of mourning and sorrow when he cried out to the Lord for mercy. In the highs and lows of life, and everything in between, the Lord is always with you.
God can turn weeping into joyful dancing (v.11). Everything changes in the hands of our Savior. Jesus understands our pain, sorrow, and rejection. Yet our Redeemer gives us the strength to overcome, moving forward not with bitterness but in His hope. Too often we attempt to carry our pain alone. Look to God first, then to godly people, and work on surrendering your sorrows and shame to your Savior.
How can you follow David’s example and always praise the Lord, no matter what? What do you need to surrender to Jesus?
