READ 1 THESSALONIANS 4-5
The words are simple but hard to live: Live to please God alone. That means you don’t live to please yourself, and you don’t live to please others. Let’s face it – those are hard words to live.
Paul talked about sexual purity, loving other Christians deeply, working hard, minding your own business, and the second coming of Christ. All of these are connected to living to please God alone. You are to live sexually the way God wants. You are not to give into the itch to gossip, but instead live to please the Lord. You should not do everything others want or say yes to every request – healthy boundaries flow from a life of devotion.
How can you think about what God wants before what you want? What is a practical way you could live to serve the Lord before serving others?
