What if the power you need isn’t something you have to create? Jesus appeared to His disciples while they were hiding behind locked doors and gave them the Holy Spirit—God’s empowering presence. They did nothing impressive to earn or receive this gift; Jesus found them in their fear and failure anyway. No one is too broken, too sinful, too skeptical, or too far gone for Jesus to walk through the locked doors of their life. He wants to draw us into an intimate relationship with Him and empower us to join what He is doing in the world. Instead of comparing, measuring, or wondering whether we have enough, Jesus invites us to simply receive. What might change if your prayer became, “Jesus, I want more of what You have for me”?
